2011 Golf Tournament Announces Hargray Communications as Platinum Sponsor
Dear Friends,
It’s time again for Abilities Unlimited, Inc., Annual Golf Tournament. In fact this will be the 3rd Annual Tournament.
The best way to start this event is to thank those of you who participated last year and to welcome new friends to our organization and to the best golf tournament ever. Last year was fantastic and thanks to all of you who participated, we were able to meet our funding goal.
As you know, this non-profit organization is dedicated to serving our citizens with mental, physical and emotional disabilities. Our agency is unique in that we strengthen each individual while enabling them to gain and maintain the ability to perform daily life skills, independence and improve self-esteem.
We are proud to say that Abilities Unlimited’s Platinum Sponsor for this tournament is Hargray Communications. The tournament will be held at the Savannah Golf Club on Monday, September 12, 2011. Registration will start at 11:00 AM. Lunch will be served at 12:00 PM and Tee-Time will be at 1:00 PM.
Your participation this year is just as important to the program as it has been in the past. We look forward to you and your team signing up to support Abilities Unlimited’s mission again this year.

THE BEGINNING
Abilities Unlimited began with one man. Tom Dunn, an adult, had a traumatic brain injury which left him confined to a wheelchair and in the care of his parents.
Tom attended therapy at one of our local hospitals. It is a requirement of these programs that the patients reach certain goals in a particular time frame. Tom did not reach the goals quickly enough and because of this his insurance company refused to pay for more therapy.
His mother called me in desperation because she heard from a physician that we work with people who have disabilities. We started working with Tom immediately. It is characteristic of people with brain injuries to have short-term memory loss. From the time Tom met me he never forgot my name. That was a highlight that I will never forget.
